Whether you are seeing your chiropractor for acute pain management, or you get adjusted once a month for regular spinal maintenance and prevention – it is important that you do some positive things to help your spine; to get the most out of your chiropractic adjustments.

Here are our top 4 tips for you to implement into your daily routine to maximise the benefit from your chiropractic care:

  1. Drink water– did you know that your spinal discs are primarily made up of fluid? If you are dehydrated, it’s likely that your spine is too. How much water should you drink? Multiple your weight (in kgs) by 0.033. For example, if you weigh 60kg, you should drink approximately 2L of water per day.
  2. Daily walks– movement is important, and this is becoming increasingly true as more and more people work sedentary jobs. A daily walk at lunch is a great way to keep your spine moving, and to break up that prolonged static desk posture.
  3. Spinal exercises– most likely your chiropractor has prescribed you a series of spinal hygiene exercises. These are aimed at promoting movement in the areas of your spine that are dysfunctional, and will get your closer to your goal faster.
  4. Good sleep hygiene– we all know that sleep is important for a host of reasons. A good night sleep will ensure that your body is healing and rejuvenating between your adjustments. Avoid tummy sleeping, make sure you have a good ergonomic pillow, and decrease screen time prior to sleep to ensure you are well rested at night.
